VETERAN’S DAY: A day to remember why we cannot let what so many have fought for, died for, and sacrificed so much for, ever go. When a soldier dies and the flag is removed from his coffin, folded, and given to the families, each fold represents something that soldier was protecting for us. As memorials and funeral services are held for the murdered at Ft. Hood many flags will go through this ritual. Here are the eleven folds, and what they stand for:

1st: LIBERTY

2nd: UNITY

3rd: JUSTICE

4th: PERSEVERANCE

Carried out in the middle of the night; quiet, so as not to disturb anyone (except the media, who should be awake if he is). The president takes a 40 minute flight to Dover AFB for the return of our fallen heroes, where only the sound of a ‘whirring power unit, and the clicking of cameras’ can be heard. This eye-moistening account comes from Ben Feller of the Assoc. Press.

I know everything is a photo op for a politician (sorry all you starry eyed Obamites – he is one), but it makes me sick everytime. More nauseating than that though is the description of these events by the media. I’m wondering if Obama was able to keep his talk with the mourning families strictly to his condolences and thanks, or did he let slip the underlying Obamantra, “You know, I inherited this mess from Bush…”

When Obama arrived back at the White House the scene was laid out eloquently, again by Mr. Feller (who I believe to really be romance novelist Nora Roberts); ‘He walked inside, alone.’ Later, speaking softly and somewhat haltingly, Obama said losses such as these are “something I think about each and every day.” Really Mr. [Continue...]

President? There are only 24 hours in a day, and inbetween coming up with cutsie quotes during those intense 3 hour long meetings over the fate of 68,000 troops (I got the biggest chuckle out of ‘McChrystal Light’ – I mean wow! Hilarious!), and making sure to obscure my view of the television as often as possible, how do you do it? Well, no need to ask – he is Obama.

This event like so many before will be portrayed as a reason Obama needs more mulling time over Afghanistan. I’m wondering if on his ‘lonely walk across the South Lawn’ after returning from Dover, if he was thinking about the troops and their commanders still fighting (yes, that is what goes on in a war) on the ground in Afghanistan; or U.S. DEA agents whose mission it was to hold back a tsunami of narcotics with a Dixie cup. Was he agonizing over the fact that every minute he does not make a decision about sending more troops or not, are akin to hours and days spent by the troops in Afghanistan waiting to find out if they will be the next to come home. Knowing the likely two choices will be either in a flag-draped coffin, or as part of a failed war because this administration is only interested in actually proving (apparantly no matter the cost) that we can turn the Taliban into peace loving ‘folks’.

And now, a teachable, and dare I say, learnable moment. AP (Autonomous Press) - 10/28/09 *President Obama says the White House is willing to hold talks with Fox News if the exiled ‘Fair and Balanced’ media outlet will abandon its conservative cause, defending the government’s hard-line position toward the news station. “For such contacts and consultations to make progress, what’s important is for Fox to have sincerity. Otherwise no substantive results can be made.” Obama told reporters. The Obama administration has repeatedly accused Fox of advocating independence and fomenting anti-government protests. Fox executives say they only advocate a way which calls for significant U.S. citizen autonomy under Obama rule, but not independence. In answering questions from foreign and domestic reporters, Obama offered an unqualified defense of his administration’s policies on conservative journalism and reporting, ignoring questions about trampling on the First Amendment. He defended his administration, saying that stimulus money, along with jobs and healthcare for all prove that “policies we have adopted are right.” Thousands of Obama’s Civil Patrol have been manning checkpoints around D.C., ready to head off any further wide-scale ‘Tea Party’ anti-government demonstrations; which, as proven by the administration, have been encouraged and organized by Fox News. Asked whether the presence of the Civil Patrol pointed to failings in [Continue...]

The Obama administration has been on high alert with two key anniversaries which were declared National Days of Remembrance by the president, and will be commemerated here in D.C. and New York. First is the one-year anniversary of a failed ‘Tea Party’ uprising which sent many once law abiding citizens into exile. This Day of Remembrance, to be held at the Nation’s Capitol will be a special day for Obama as thousands of school children will sing to the commander, and the ever-growing Civil Patrol will march while the once great U.S. Naval band plays the new National Anthem. Next will be the celebratory 60th anniversary of communism in China. Held in New York, the highlight will be the lighting of the Empire State Building in yellow, red, and black – a show of understanding and comradship from the Obama administration to the Chinese government. The following day chosen citizen volunteers will ceremoniously remove reminders of September 11th, 2001 from the site of the former World Trade Center. New CNN polls have shown that people are more in agreement now with the president that, “It is time to forget tragic reminders of what capitalism can do. Time to forget the evil America wrought as a result of it’s greed and pursuit of money.” By next year the Obama administration hopes to have their proposed ‘People’s Garden’ well under way where the Twin Towers once stood. Family members of those who died because of the drastic, but necessary actions of the Muslim Freedom Fighters have been largely silent after the exoneration and citizenship given to thirteen of the thirteen accused MFF accomplices by the Supreme Court.

Earlier this week Fox and the White House traded sharp words, with Fox condemning Obama’s “brutal crackdown” following the anti-government demonstrations, and it’s harsh rule over conservative media, which has made some citizens afraid to watch or read anything that may reflect negatively on the current administration. The White House lashed back, saying those accusations were “sheer lies,” and even went so far as to lodge a complaint with the U.N. Embassy after a spokesman for Fox News voiced concern over repression of the people, and appealed for renewed talks between both sides. The administration continues to be dogged by the economic crisis battering the United States, with nearly all in congress poised to approve a national budget for the coming year that boosts government spending another 25 percent. Obama expressed confidence that the U.S. could emerge from its slump “at an early date” and said the government is ready to expand its $586 billion dollar Stimulus Plan Part III to boost growth, which did not happen with the first two stimulus plans. Otherwise no new measures were announced and the congress, which serves mainly to rubber-stamp decisions already made by the president, passed no new legislation. Amid rising unemployment and fears over social unrest, this year’s legislative session saw Obama more intent than ever on projecting an image of unity and control. Renewed calls for political reform from inside and outside the country and the sensitive political anniversaries also raised the administration’s gaurd against dissent. - AP (Autonomous Press) *denotes an Autonomous alternative idiom* See color-coded & chronologically listed primary words below to view article as seen in The Huffington Post. www.huffingtonpost.com

BRENNAN LINSLEY : ASSOCIATED PRESS: Monday, October 5, 2009 5:45 AM: WASHINGTON – “Afghanistan is not in imminent danger of falling to the Taliban”, President Barack Obama’s national security adviser said yesterday. He downplayed fears that the insurgency could set up a renewed sanctuary for al-Qaida. Retired Gen.
It’s great that the president is carefully thinking about what to do in Afghanistan…. It’s great that he knows much more then our troops and the generals on the ground know… It’s great to have people like Eugene Robinson of the Washington Post expound on how General McChrystal ”has no business conducting a public campaign to build support for his preferred option, which is to send tens of thousands more troops into a country once called ‘the graveyard of empires’ “. No, the only real job McChrystal and all the other generals under Obama “have to do is to shut up and salute”, according to Robinson. He then goes on to say that he believes that when James Jones said on CNN that McChrystal should use the chain of command for troop requests, he was using ‘Pentagon – speak’ which when translated means, “Put a sock in it Jim.” The only thing I can say to that anti-military rhetoric is take a look out your window Mr. Robinson. See any armed militia running around? Hear any bombs dropping close by? Worried about federal police breaking down your door and confiscating your computer? Late to get in line to get food with your government coupons? No? Now why is that?

Mr. President, stop practicing your “I don’t deserve this, but…” speech coming up in December. Make a decision for our troops in Afghanistan- actually focus on what a President should focus on. Stay off the Late Show, cut out trips abroad trying to get the Olympics or anything else like it here, cancel attending gala events for special interest groups, quit acting like Healthcare Reform is what is going to make or break this country. You got the job – NOW DO SOMETHING

“Ideally, it’s best for military advice to come up through the chain of command,” Jones said. The president should be presented with options, not just one “fait accompli,” Jones told CBS moderator Bob Schieffer.

The highly visible debate about what to do in Afghanistan, which included a multi-hour session at the White House last week, prompted a divided reaction among Senators. On CNN, Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.) said, “I’m so pleased we have a president who isn’t just going to rush forward.”

This restriction concerns the nominees and nominators, as well as investigations and opinions related to awarding the prize.

www.nobelprize.org

While this is a great honor for anyone receiving it, I am truly baffled at this selection. I was hoping that Obama would humbly decline; acknowledging that he has done nothing to qualify for the Nobel. Instead, there he stood rambling on about how he would accept it only ‘..as a call to action by the American people!‘ We had all better band together and start doing something that will make it appear our president does deserve this prize! (Why am I thinking about The Emporer’s New Clothes’ right now?) I’m adding the Nobel Committee to the Obama Administration of Audacious Idiots. I think someone should write a sequel to ‘The Audacity Of Hope’, and title it ‘The Audacity Of Hope II: The plight of America following the scourge of The Obama Administration’

I cannot swallow whole the view of Lincoln as the Great Emancipator.
Barack Obama
From ‘Time’ magazine June 2005.

We have real enemies in the world. These enemies must be found. They must be pursued and they must be defeated.
Barack Obama
Keynote speech to Democratic National Convention, July 2004.

I don’t oppose all wars. What I am opposed to is a dumb war. What I am opposed to is a rash war.
Barack Obama

When we think of the major threats to our national security, the first to come to mind are nuclear proliferation, rogue states and global terrorism. But another kind of threat lurks beyond our shores, one from nature, not humans – an avian flu pandemic.
Barack Obama

You know, my faith is one that admits some doubt.

CNN is a truly great news organization. For awhile now I’ve been wanting to write about this, but I’ve waited; given myself time to watch it a little more so I could be sure my thoughts on this news giant were accurate.

The anchors really tell it like it is. Just a couple of weeks ago I was captivated by a story on CNN Newsroom. It depicted a family of 4; considered ‘rich’ (the anchor called them “The Rich family!”) as they made $90,000 a year; and the viewer was told that even they would save money with Obama’s Healthcare Plan. After this great, well researched (I’m sure) report, the desk anchor said it best: “Can’t they take some of their money and help their neighbors?”

A highlight of this story was the portrayal of the family. I thought that the anchor did a great job in describing them as the viewer only saw an illustrated representation of a faceless mom, dad, son and daughter. When she pointed to the big house behind them, and the pearl necklace around mom’s neck, I definitely got that they were rich! Did I mention they were white…?

Then this week I was delighted to see children dancing and singing about Obama [Continue...]

Did I mention they were white…?

Then this week I was delighted to see children dancing and singing about Obama and healthcare reform right there on CNN! I was inspired to say the least. It reminded me of children performing for Saddam Hussein or Hugo Chavez. Hey, if the kids think these guys are ok, then we grownups should give them a chance too.

Today I believe was the pinnacle of CNN greatness. They ran a story about the plight of Palestinian children who were shown petting donkeys at a zoo that had painted them like zebras because Israel still has sanctions against Hamas. As if this wasn’t bad enough, the newsanchor sadly told us that it would’ve cost some $40,000 to smuggle a zebra in. Where is PETA on this?! Hello! Painting donkeys! And sanctions against Hamas by the Israeli’s…? Where is the UN? Where is Barack Hussein Obama, Nobel Peace Prize winner 2009?

I hope for those of you who did not get the opportunity to see these wonderful segments that my descriptions atleast offered a glimpse. For those of you that did, I’m sorry you had to relive them! OY!

I’m curious if the $58,000 was his salary for 331 days, or the cost of catching him. Either way, all offenders have been disciplined according to the NSF.

I’m curious if the $58,000 was his salary for 331 days, or the cost of catching him. Either way, all offenders have been disciplined according to the NSF.

I was biting my nails today waiting for whether or not Chicago would be chosen for The Olympics. I just knew that it was a sure thing once Oprah got to Copenhagen and schmoozed with the IOC. Oh, the Obama’s too. Alright – I do believe in respect for the Office of the Presidency. Try again: Oh, The President and Mrs. Obama. Um, does anyone in Copenhagen know who Oprah is?

I was surprised when the President took off in Air Force One before the winning city was announced. I thought to myself, ”This guy is good. He knows when things are going his way.” I even harkened back to a campaign trail speech wherein Obama was telling everyone how he would be wrapping up his 2nd term in office, with the last hurrah being himself, Mayor Daley, Rahm Emanuel, and others, practically holding hands as they walk out on to the sparkling Olympic field in Chicago, 2016. There the President would announce: “Let the games begin!” (Wasn’t that the battlecry of Congress as they startedworking…no….debating…mmm, not really….taking orders from their leader on Healthcare Reform?)

After more nail biting (would that be considered a pre-existing condition?) and looking at the First Lady who appeared ready to jump up and shout, “You love me! You really love me!” when ‘Chicago’ was called, I began tallying up the possible cost of her and her entourage taking the 3,900 – some odd mile trip to Denmark. I mean, in the scheme of things is it really a big deal? Well, it became one the more I thought about it, and I had to investigate….

And Now…..FUN FACTS!

*When the Copenhagen trip was solidified for the First Lady, it was unclear if the President would also be attending. He even contacted the IOC with the news that ‘the fight to pass Health Insurance Reform keeps him from commiting to being in Copenhagen on Oct. 2nd, but he will continue to work to support Chicago’s bid for the Olympics’. -FLASH FORWARD- When Obama decided to go to Copenhagen he said that he didn’t think a short trip abroad would harm his efforts to provide Healthcare Reform. www.cncnews.com I believe I concur with the latter statement.

The plane Mrs. Obama flew in had a price range for flying one-way, 7.5 hours, to Denmark of $29,532 (White House Military Office figure), to $107,717 (U.S. Air Force figure). Seeing those figures really cleared some things up for me when it comes to pondering budgets.

Even better than the costs are the amount of greenhouse gas emissions (car-bon di-ox-ide, for we who keep breathing it in; then exhaling it; then breathing it in….) put out for the trip. Air Force One, at a cost of $67,000 an hour, on an 18 hour roundtrip, at a total cost of $1.2 million to venture to Denmark, put out more than one million lbs. of Co2. The Boeing the First Lady was on put out a mere 374,000 lbs. of Co2.

Why do I care? Why am I being petty? Well, I’m not convinced this was a necessary trip AT ALL. If the First Lady was in on this Olympic City bid thing as a cause that’s great. She could’ve gone to Copenhagen with Oprah and we would’ve seen the highlights on the next Oprah Show. But no, the man leading the nation had to be there too. I wonder where this falls in presidential travels – check out the Congressional Research Service on Presidential Travel and Policy and Cost at www.opencrs.com , and continue to wonder.

Oh, now I see his being there wasn’t that impressive to the IOC. Did they just use Obama as a photo op? No time to wonder about that possibility now, Chicago just ranked 4th out of 4 cities – ouch! Hmm, did the IOC do some homework?

Time to resume living now. I am relieved to know I won’t be hearing about how many stimulus packages will be needed so there can be hot dog vendors at the Chicago Olympics!

…will President Obama attend the next Climate Change Summit to be held in Copenhagen this December…? Will he choose to do the right thing and planepool with somebody?

……..why were The Secretary of Transportation and The Secretary of Education along for the trip to Copenhagen…? ..why not the Czar of Short Trips Abroad..?
