The linked article expounds upon the notion that the special election in Massachusetts could result in a Republican victory. And the problem is the Democrats are not paying attention to why.

The “Kennedy Seat” in Mass was one of those standing bastions of Democratic control. Elections in that state were never considered to be endangered. Teddy would hold that seat until he died. Indeed, it was thought that the seat would remain a Democrat seat forever.

But history may change come Tuesday. And while the current Health Care bill may not be the only issue on voters’ minds that morning, it cannot be denied that it is a factor. And that is why I think our elected leaders have lost their minds.

We have a controlling party that has been blasted this past year about the health care reform bills. Nothing that the democrats have proposed has been accepted by a majority of America. Even when some democrats seemed to be listening to the will of the people, their support was bought by the democrat machine. The true nature of Washington politics has been laid bare for all to see in these past few months.

And so, with the evidence of a Government willing to spend with no regard to the taxpayer holding the bill, passing legislation that most Americans oppose, the people are pushing back. Polling shows that a once rock hard Democrat seat may very well swing Republican. But Congress is ignoring the message. Congress is looking at this as partisan politics. Simple difference of opinion between Democrats and Republicans. But it’s more than that. It has gone beyond partisan politics and has reached past the Beltway into the heart of America.

I’m not going to say that a Republican victory on Tuesday is guaranteed. But I will say this: the very fact that it is possible should be giving the Democrats pause, and they should be asking why, instead of maneuvering around it. Unfortunately, congress appears to be locked in tunnel vision, ignoring the people, with their head in the sand.

A victory on Tuesday would mean one thing. Despite the fact that congress is ignoring the wake up call, at least the American people may finally be waking up.

That’s the analogy Jim Kessler, the Vice President for policy with the non-profit think tank Third Way uses to describe the current “Cadillac Insurance plans” covering much of Middle America. Congress has targeted these plans, those that cost more than $23,000 a year, in the Health Care Reform bill. And the result isn’t going to be pretty for the middle class wage earners, or those with a Chevy paycheck.

With an estimated forty percent tax on these insurance plans, the handwriting is on the wall. The plans will disappear. The main reason they are available to the middle class is the tax breaks employers get for paying a large portion of the premiums. With that tax break gone, who do you think will have to pay for the difference? Not the employer. And with a higher premium, many middle class workers will have to give up these plans.

Don’t think this applies to you? Here’s a test. Look at your current pay stub. See how much you pay for insurance. Then add in what your employer pays per pay period. Multiply that by the number of pay periods in a year, and see how much your plan actually costs. The mistake many people make is they don’t know, or they ignore what their employer chips in for the plan. Don’t be surprised if the plan you have falls into the category of “Cadillac Plans”. Congratulations! You have just step into the world of the Wall Street Well to do’s. Because that is who Obama and the Democrats think are the only ones with Cadillac health care plans. Ironically, union workers are the majority of those with these health care plans. I wonder if those union thugs in Saint Louis really knew they were supporting a plan that’s going to cost them.

Now, let’s have a reality check. Let’s back up and take a broad look at this situation. Health Care Reform is supposed to make health care more affordable. This plan will now make many middle class workers have to pay MORE for their insurance, or choose a less expensive, (read less coverage) plan, which will result in more out of pocket health expenses. Either way, this legislation designed to reduce our health care costs is going to make health care more expensive.

Oh, and lets just say you decide to opt for a cheaper plan, thus putting more money in your pocket. Not to worry. Your congressmen and women have thought about that. In fact, they are counting on that. Because more of your wages in your pocket equals more taxable wages. So you see middle class Americans, the ones Obama promised he would not tax, are going to pay more.

Anyone who believed Obama when he said he wouldn’t tax the middle class needs to seek professional help immediately.

He was coming back to Montana after visiting his parents, to help us in an upcoming move.

His budget required him to make the trip by Amtrak, with a train change in Chicago. That’s Illinois. Barry Obama’s state. And a state with some of the most restrictive gun control laws in the nation.

Amtrak does not allow firearms on its trains. Firearms are not permitted in the train stations. Gun control thus prevents the law abiding citizen from protecting himself. But as this true life example reveals, it does nothing to prevent the criminal from breaking the law. Armed robbery is considered a violent crime. And Doug is now a statistic of violent crime for the year of 2009.

And what about the police? Those who are sworn to protect and serve? I asked Doug how long it took him to find a cop. Fifteen minutes. And the outcome? A warning to be more careful. Yes, Doug, you should be more careful, especially in Chicago. Illinois. Barry Obama’s state. Because there, YOU are not allowed to protect yourself. They have laws which prevent you, as a law abiding citizen, from protecting yourself from violent crimes. They prefer that you rely on the police for protection. You know, like the cop it took you 15 minutes to find.

Gun control is not Crime control.

The real story here is not Van Jones’ resignation. Nor is it his ties with communist ideology. Nor his criminal record. It’s not about him calling conservatives a****les, or even his alignment with the “9/11 Truther” clowns. The real story is he has resigned, despite the MSM.

Fox News has a reputation in the liberal world of being a right wing propaganda machine. But reality is much different. I’m reminded of a quote, I’m not sure who said it (I know Spock said it on a Star Trek episode, but that’s not its origin): “In an insane society, only the sane appear insane.” When the Main Stream Media as a whole have their collective noses up Barry Obama’s butt, any outlet that attempts a fair and balanced showing is going to appear as a right wing news outlet. And the story of Van Jones is a good example.

Each and every allegation listed above has been reported on Fox News, specifically by Glenn Beck. But almost all of them have been noticeably absent from any other MSM outlet. To be sure, the article on MSNBC about his resignation isn’t even an MSNBC original, but rather an AP wire report.

NBC, ABC, CBS, and CNN cannot appear to be critical of the Obama administration. They just can’t. Their noses are so far up Obama’s butt, that it’s too late for them to say “It stinks in here.” And so, they ignore the controversies. And they think that it will just go away. Because they are still stuck in a mindset of the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, and most of the 90’s where public opinion was forged and to an extent manipulated by the nightly news. And they have ignored recent history, which they helped perpetuate.

The Blog sphere was brand new during the Kerry/Bush season. But it still had an impact. And the liberals realized this much sooner than the conservatives. So they were ready in 2006, when a power change was eminent. And they used the internet media to their advantage. In 2008, a suddenly awakened conservative movement hit the blog sphere, but it was too late. (And the old guard conservatives had trouble embracing it, in my opinion). The firmly entrenched liberal internet preached Change so hard and so loud, that it was felt by most independents, and some conservatives.

But the winds of change have a way of changing direction. And now the blog sphere, that tool that the liberals had used so skillfully to their advantage, is turning on them. HealthCare reform opposition has swept the nation, despite the likes of Chris Matthews or Rachel “what’s-her-name”. Now, when Nancy Pelosi makes an off hand remark about the opposition being Nazis, it’s heard in Camdenton Missouri. When Arlen Specter makes a snide comment about the protesters in PA, they hear about it in MT. And they get righteously pissed. And when the MSM makes every effort to vilify and insult those who oppose ObamaCare, they strengthen the masses who oppose it.

So the MSM spins a story, as they have been doing with the Health Care Reform opposition, or ignore it completely, as with Van Jones, and hope that America will buy their version. But America has learned, from the very tool the liberals fostered, and they are no longer buying it.

Andy Gibb (aka Baghdad Bob of the Whitehouse) insisted that Van Jones enjoyed the confidence of the President. And the backlash against Van Jones was not seen in the MSM. Yet it was strong enough to force the man to resign. And that’s the real story.

This means that a loaded weapon may be carried legally in public so long as it is clearly visible. To carry a concealed weapon, one must obtain a permit to do so. It is unknown if any or how many concealed weapons were present at this protest.

This has made quite a stir in the media, and of course the liberals and progressives are as usual whining, pissing, moaning, and complaining about it. They have had mush to say concerning this citizen and his decision to exercise his rights under State and Federal law.

First, let’s be clear. The Second Amendment, as recently affirmed by the Supreme Court, allows an individual right to keep and bare arms. Second, Arizona law allows for the open carry of such weapons. So this man and the others with visible weapons were completely within their rights and the boundaries of the law to carry said weapons at this rally. This has been affirmed by the Sherriff of that county.

But the libs and progs are still upset. They would argue that this display is a form of intimidation. That he used poor judgment. That the display of firearms has no place at a protest against health care.

Well. In the words of Samuel L. Jackson, “Allow me to retort!”

Arguments for the Second Amendment have long been tied to an armed populace, capable of suppressing an oppressive government. That is, if the Federal Government became more of a monster than our founding fathers had envisioned, they allowed for a means of correcting that situation.

Nancy Pelosi says that those who oppose her plan for health care are un-American. Harry Reid calls the protesters Evil-Mongers. For weeks now, the American People have voiced their opinions and feelings on this legislation. And they have been vilified for it. That tactic by the Liberal leaders in DC is backfiring. Attacking those who oppose has galvanized the opposition. And they are pushing back.

Elected officials have received letters and emails from their constituents. And many have been put on notice that their political careers are in jeopardy. Not so much for how they will vote, but how they react to the people. I’d hazard a guess that Arlen Specter is about to retire. After a heated town hall meeting, where he appeared to honestly listen to the concerns of his people, he turns around and makes a statement that the opposition to this legislation is “not representative of the public’s view on the issue.” Really? Then who were you at a town hall meeting with, if not the public?

The current leadership in DC was not elected by the Liberals or Progressives. They were elected by the Independents. The undecided. And they were elected because the country needed something different. The choices were slim. One looked too much like the last 8 years. So they chose the other.

But that doesn’t mean the country, as a whole was ready to embrace the radical far left agenda. And they are being vocal about that now. The problem is the radical far left leadership cannot accept that their agenda is not acceptable to the masses. And so they attack. And vilify. And that gets a response. But it’s not one they like.

Along with the threat of a loss in 2010, and 2012, the people are sending another message as well. And that message is, “Read the Second Amendment again. Understand it. Because we do.”

Now, I don’t know the gentleman who carried the rifle to the protest. I don’t know any of the folks there who were armed. But this fellow’s response when asked why he was carrying a weapon speaks volumes in a few short words. “Because I can”.

Now, I neither condemn, nor condone the actions these folks took by bringing these weapons to a protest. I am simply affirming their right to do so under state and federal law. And I in no way am promoting violence against protesters, counter-protesters, or our elected officials. While the 2nd Amendment has a basis in an armed populace maintaining a check and balance against an oppressive government, it is my opinion that we are nowhere near that point, and we have many options available to us to effect changes in our government without resorting to violence.

You are a “far right-wing ideologue recruited by paid organizers”. So says Margarida Jorge. And she should know.

She is an activist. Plain and simple. She’s a National Field Director for Health Care for America NOW! (HCAN). Prior to that, she was Organizing Director for Pro-Vote, the Missouri Progressive Vote Coalition. Pro-Vote lists as coalition partners: ACORN, ADA—Americans for Democratic Action (Missouri Chapter), NARAL Pro-Choice Missouri, MNEA Pac—Missouri National Educational Association Pac, and just about every Labor Union in the state of Missouri.

On their web page, there is a link to a page devoted to HCAN. And at the top of just about every page, is an invitation link to join their E-Activism list. They make no effort to hide the fact that they are activists.

The Web site for HCAN is just as interesting. Here is their “about us” statement:

“Health Care for America Now (HCAN) is a national grassroots campaign of more than 1,000 organizations in 46 states representing 30 million people dedicated to winning quality, affordable health care we all can count on in 2009. Our organization and principles are supported by President Obama, Vice President Biden, and more than 190 Members of Congress.”

Did you get that? Grass Roots. Halos above every head. Not a recruited ideologue. Just a grass roots movement. Oh and here is their list of coalitions:

“Our Steering Committee includes: ACORN, AFL-CIO, AFSCME, AFT, Americans United for Change, Campaign for America’s Future, Center for American Progress Action Fund, Campaign for Community Change, Children’s Defense Fund Action Council, Communications Workers of America, International Union, United Automobile, Aerospace & Agricultural Implement Workers of America (UAW), MoveOn.org, NAACP, National Council of La Raza, National Education Association, National Women’s Law Center, SEIU, UFCW, USAction, Women’s Voices, Women’s Vote and Working America.”

Nope. Nothing sinister here.

Now, they have enjoyed a relatively care free campaign for the current Health Care Reform Bill. You know, the 1000 page bill that must be signed into law quickly, and that our congress can’t be bothered with reading, or they would find out exactly why the Congressional Budget Office has determined that it will raise the deficit by 1 trillion dollars over the next ten years. But that ended when Congress went into recess. And our elected officials went home to a fire storm of protests.

Now, this caught a lot of folks off guard. Not the least of which were the activists themselves. How dare someone protest against something they support! Surely, since HCAN and Pro-Vote support it, it must be golden, handed down from God Almighty himself. And any opposition to their position cannot, by definition, be a grass-roots movement. So sayeth the activist.

They even have a handbook now to deal with it. You can download it here. Authored by none other than Margarida Jorge. So what does Jorge have to say about the very vocal opposition?

“Who are these people?
The people who show up are far right-wing ideologues recruited by paid organizers. Much of this recruitment and organizing is funded by industry lobbyists and public relations firms to engage radical right-wing groups. Many of these groups are motivated by far right ideology in general – not by health care as an issue. They are held together by a common vision of the world that centers on defeating Obama and his agenda. We can expect to see anti-abortion groups, pro-gun groups, insurance company employees (mandated by employers to come out), militia groups, and antiimmigration groups.”

I don’t know, call me crazy if you will. I didn’t realize that asking a Senator how we could trust him to make the right decision if he hadn’t even taken the time to read a Bill was a far right ideology. (This is the DrudgeReport featured video about Specter). I didn’t realize that being concerned about adding 1 trillion dollars to an already unbelievable deficit was a common vision that centers on defeating Obama and his agenda. Well, to be sure, if his agenda is to swell the deficit so that my great grandchildren are still paying it off, then yes, that is my vision. And it should be everyone’s vision.

So the self proclaimed Grass-Roots movement (read activists) cannot accept that there are those who do not agree with them. And have taken a lesson from them. And are now giving them a dose of their own medicine.

All you have to do is read the current polls. Almost a dead heat for and against this legislation. But that’s lost on the progressives. They cannot accept that someone would have serious problems about a bill that the CBO has said will have little initial effect, at the cost of over 1 trillion dollars, and will ultimately require higher taxes to fund.

But they don’t want to address that. Instead they endeavor to marginalize the opposition as far-right ideologues. BreitBart TV has a clip from the Glen Beck show that places this in context. Take a look:

Angry mob? All I see are concerned citizens. Asking the same questions I have.

And Jorge isn’t the only liberal activist with their panties in a wad about the current opposition. Remember Brad Woodhouse? Communications Director of the DNC, and current President of Americans United for Change. Here’s a little history lesson from that website:

“Prior to becoming president, Mr. Woodhouse served as communications director for Americans United and the national campaign that defeated President Bush’s plan to privatize Social Security in 2005. During this time Mr. Woodhouse was also a political consultant with Hildebrand-Tewes Consulting.”

Now do you remember? Remember the protest against reforming Social Security?

Well, ol Brad couldn’t let this opposition go unanswered. In a statement released Teusday, the man associated with a national campaign to oppose legislation on reform had this to say:

“The Republicans and their allied groups — desperate after losing two consecutive elections and every major policy fight on Capitol Hill — are inciting angry mobs of a small number of rabid right wing extremists funded by K Street Lobbyists to disrupt thoughtful discussions about the future of health care in America taking place in Congressional Districts across the country,”

Pot, meet kettle. Hey Brad, Margarida and the rest of you liberal Progressives, here’s a thought. Why don’t you stop trying to attack the opposition for what they aren’t, and try addressing the issues they bring up? Tell us, if you can, why we should support a bill that few lawmakers have read, even fewer actually understand, is going to cost over 1 trillion dollars, and will likely raise taxes with little if any appreciable effect?

Start answering those questions and maybe you won’t appear to the rest of us as just a bunch of kool-aid sipping socialist lemmings, attacking anyone who opposes your view for bigger government.
