The other day I heard that President Obama had made the decision to address public school children on Tuesday September 8th. At first I could not help but think “who does this dude think he is?” Initially I wasn’t to enthusiastic about the address or the thought of our children’s teachers and schools using this as a “teachable moment” on how wonderful and great the President is. My wife and I where a bit miffed to say the least. We talked and are still talking about keeping our kids home on the 8th. But something happened, the more I thought about it the more I thought this probably isn’t as big a deal as many are making it out to be. I decided to write a short list of worse candidates to speak to my kids in a “Back to School Address”.
The Octo-Mom- I can see it now Nadya Suleman with her dozen or so kids in tow telling our youths to “Stay in School, I did.” Can anyone say SCARED STUPID?
Chris (thrill up my leg) Matthews , Keith Olbermann, or any “reporter” on MSNBC- Considering their ratings one would think the only thing worse for them would be if they where CNN.
Van (I am out of here) Jones-Not only did he prove he could put his foot in his mouth but he proved that when the going got tough for him he got going. All the while blaming the “smear” when the only thing smearing him was his words and signature. See you around Van thanks for the memories.
Ashton Kutcher, Demi Moore, or any of the tools in this video- Thanks to Max Venom for posting this video and inducing the old gag reflex caused by watching this pledge farce. If this is part of anything my kids are exposed, to as it was in this Utah school, count my kids out. Please keep your creepy pledges to yourself. Seriously that was some scary stuff. Not to mention Anthony Kiedis seemed a little like the guy below.
This Guy Right Here- Seriously if you watch any link I have posted today you need to watch this one. Hell, I would pay my hard earned money to see this guy give the same B/S pledge I showed above. Imagine this guy addressing our kids about the merits of school, that is scary.
Finally, the basic premise of this article is the fact that, call me naive, I doubt President Obama is dumb enough to use this opportunity to indoctrinate our children. I honestly feel <gasp> he is doing something good here. School is very important and there are many children who look up to and admire the President. And given the chance why would he not try and get these children to see the merits of getting a good education. All this said, I will read the transcript and watch the address and if there is anything I or my wife think should be addressed we will do it when the kids get home. I would hope other Conservative parents would do the same thing, keeping the kids home from school over this makes us no better than those we oppose.

I guess this is all my naive point of view on this. But I have always been a person who gives others the benefit of the doubt. Even when I abhor their policies. My only question is this what ever happened to having Barney or Elmo telling the kids school is important? Ah I bet they are probably filming the next pledge video

With regard to Octo-Mom, since she is in negotiations for a reality tv show, she could very well be speaking to our kids soon.

Yeah my kids won’t watch that show lol. I saw that she was either in negotiations or had already signed the deal, she is a train wreck in my eyes.
