While Washington Dithers (A Challenge To All Voters)

while-washington-dithers-a-challenge-to-all-voters

On any given day turn in the TV, radio, or open a newspaper and we are constantly bombarded with politicians and pundits giving their 2 cents on the situation America finds itself in. These people, who have diverse ideas of what the ideal America is, spewing the same B/S rhetoric all the while living in a world many of us could only dream of. I see it everyday as these “important” people play the blame game as the good people lose their jobs and homes.

As I watch I wonder what these people are truly thinking. Do they care? Are they doing all they can to fix this mess they “inherited’? The more I wonder the more I realize most of these people could care less about you or me. In fact, I would wager that if you didn’t vote for them or hold a different view politically they care even less.

Why should they care most I am sure have not dealt with the life many of us face. You know the life, wondering where the next rent or mortgage payment is going to come from. Or days spent waiting in the unemployment or welfare office to be seen. Or having to sell a cherished item to ensure they could pay the rent or buy some food for the family?

Have they had their kids ask them “when are we moving into our own house”. Watched as the tears streamed down the faces of their family as they pulled out the last of the boxes from the house they where evicted from? Waited for assistance at a local facility only to be turned away do to the overwhelming response of needy people.

Sadly, from my point of view our elected officials do not see our side. Sure they might have had hardships in life but it also seems these people far removed from those hardships and what many Americans are going through. They do not and cannot understand the life many have been forced to live do to this “inherited mess” left by administrations past. They seem to instead use their time fighting and bickering amongst one another. Living it up down in D.C. as you and I are forced to feel the whole brunt of the mess we all have “inherited”.

Americans need to wake up to where we are heading while Washington dithers. While Washington dithers many of us are unemployed. While Washington dither more and more people are losing their unemployment benefits. While Washington dithers more and more families are losing their homes. While Washington dithers you and I being made the fools.

My challenge to everyone is this. Instead of voting for the party vote for the person. Check the job performance of the incumbents or the platform of the challengers. Look at all the candidates stand for not just the stuff that is shoved in our faces via the media. For once try and vote for substance/and performance instead of voting for the “D”, “R”, or “I” behind the name. Become aware of the people we put into Washington to much is at stake not to. We need people who care and will do what is right in Washington, not people only concerned about winning the next election. As a recently evicted and unemployed American I’ll remember this come November, will you?

Obama Lectures Spain...

Gateway Pundit: Unreal. Obama Lectures Spanish Prime Minister Zapatero on Reining in Debt Tuesday, May 11, 2010, 11:16 PM

This is nuts.
Barack Obama lectured (fellow) socialist Prime Minister Jose Luis Zapatero of Spain today on reining in the country’s debt. This comes from the same man who just tripled the US national deficit in less than one year.

The AFP reported:

US President Barack Obama spoke to Spanish Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero Tuesday on the debt crisis and discussed reforms needed to rescue the Spanish economy, the White House said.

The conversation was the latest move by Obama in the European crisis, and White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said Washington would do whatever was needed to stop the eurozone turmoil from stifling the US recovery.

The leaders “discussed the importance of Spain taking resolute action as part of Europe’s effort to strengthen its economy and build market confidence,” Gibbs said in a statement.

“The president expressed the support of the United States for those efforts. The president also conveyed his best wishes to King Juan Carlos for a speedy recovery from his recent surgery.”

POLITICO.com: Harry Reid: Republican party's filibuster 'anti-American'

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) accused Republicans of being “anti-American” by demanding changes to a Wall Street regulation bill before it’s debated openly on the Senate floor.

Speaking to reporters just before the Democrats’ third attempt to break a GOP filibuster on the issue, Reid said that Republicans “keep stalling, keep stalling.” He charged Republicans with trying to pick apart the bill before it even comes to the floor where both sides could offer amendments and openly debate the measure.

AP viaYahoo! News: Unemployment challenges Obama's economic narrative

Even as he touts his efforts to put more Americans to work, President Barack Obama faces a public increasingly skeptical of his ability to bring jobs back to Main Street.

During stops in Iowa, Illinois and Missouri, Obama will try to convince voters that his economic policies are working, despite an unemployment rate that’s expected to remain at painfully high levels for months if not years.

CNN.com: Wall Street didn't cause crash of '08

Financial reform? Not exactly. The bill before Congress does nothing to address the fundamental background causes of the crash of 2008.

Wall Street may have been the instrument of the crash. But the crash was made elsewhere: in Washington’s failed policies for middle-class families — and in China’s distorted rush for economic growth.

The story is not a simple one. But I hope you will pay attention to the details. If you don’t, you may find that the pocket that has been picked is your own.

CNN: Economists say the stimulus didn’t help

The recovery is picking up steam as employers boost payrolls, but economists think the government’s stimulus package and jobs bill had little to do with the rebound, according to a survey released Monday.

In latest quarterly survey by the National Association for Business Economics, the index that measures employment showed job growth for the first time in two years — but a majority of respondents felt the fiscal stimulus had no impact.

TIS: Keep Grant on $50 Note, Place Reagan on New $40 Note

Ronald Wilson Reagan (February 6, 1911 – June 5, 2004); 40th President of the United States (1981–1989)

Ronald Wilson Reagan (February 6, 1911 – June 5, 2004); 40th President of the United States (1981–1989)

When Rep. Patrick McHenry (R — N.C.) proposed replacing Grant with Reagan on the $50 note, not only was he wrong, but thankfully most Americans want to keep Grant in his rightful place of honor. Using McHenry’s standard, time would erase all historical figures for expediency sake at great expense. He might as well have proposed chiseling Obama’s image over Lincoln’s image on Mt. Rushmore.

What America needs more than ever is a deep respect of our history. If we choose to forget why Grant was honored on the $50 note in the first place, then what possible purpose do great men have in U.S. history, if only to be forgotten and removed from places of bestowed honor?

This article isn’t going to remind Americans how great of a man, and President, Ulysses S. Grant was during his period in American history.

Rather, if the goal of Rep. McHenry is to honor our greatest President of the 20th century, Ronald Reagan, then double down on the $20 note and create a new $40 note in honor of our 40th President. Not only would it be fitting, but would reduce the number of $20 dollar bills in circulation.

Besides, why carry around two democrat-twenties in your wallet when a single republican-forty can get the same job done, using half the ink, half the paper, at half the costs. Sounds like smaller government, and the way Washington is today, any reduction is a step in the right direction no matter how small it seems.

The naysayers will attack costs, but modifying ATM’s, electronic currency readers at gas stations and other cash transaction machines, would actually be good for the economy by employing people to manufacture and install a simple technology upgrade.

The Ronald Reagan forty dollar bill…. currency you can bank on!

Authors Note: No doubt democrats would argue that FDR is their greatest president of the 20th century. That is perfectly understandable for the liberal crowd. Conservatives have thought this through very carefully, and propose to all democrats that FDR take his rightful place in history by printing his image on Government Social Security Checks.
