“Backwards and hateful ideas … oust John Stossel,” said Colorofchange.org.
In a newspaper, the organization went on:
“It’s time that FOX drop Stossel … we’ll go directly after the network with a public campaign unlike anything we’ve pursued to date.”

Can you trust Washington?
Nearly 80 percent of Americans say they can’t and they have little faith that the massive federal bureaucracy can solve the nation’s ills, according to a survey from the Pew Research Center that shows public confidence in the federal government at one of the lowest points in a half-century. [emphasis added]
The poll released Sunday illustrates the ominous situation facing President Barack Obama and the Democratic Party as they struggle to maintain their comfortable congressional majorities in this fall’s elections. Midterm prospects are typically tough for the party in power. Add a toxic environment like this and lots of incumbent Democrats could be out of work.

Congressman Ron Paul is making waves again though this time he is appears to actually be appealing to a large swatch of Americans, a change over the almost exclusive support he had in 2008 among fringies, white supremacists and Dennis Kucinich supporters.
I’ve been hard on Paul in the past even though I find much of his economic philosophy appealing. Unfortunately, he has an archaic view on foreign policy that runs counter to the largely common-sense view shared by most Republicans. Still, if we are faced with a choice between an economic minimalist with a bad foreign policy perspective and a big government hog-at-the-trough with a bad foreign policy perspective, I’ll take the former.
In other words, if recent Rasmussen polling held (as well as Paul’s strong showing in last weekends Southern Republican Leadership Conference presidential straw poll) and the 2012 presidential election were indeed a toss-up between Ron Paul and Barack Obama…there is no question who I would support.
Of course, the likelihood that Paul would indeed be the Republican nominee in 2012 is slim and this poll, like all 2012 polling at this moment in time, is worthless. It’s too early, polls don’t necessarily translate into votes and Ron Paul’s [Continue...]

No one should be too taken aback by Congressman Phil Hare’s admission that “I don’t worry about the Constitution on [health care reform] to be honest”. The part that drew a reaction from me was when he proved his devotion to the Constitution by citing…the Declaration of Independence!
I’ve seen countless people do this over the years, citing the “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness” passage in the Declaration as an example of Constitutional justification for various policies and positions (often minus the words, “the pursuit of”). But…Hare is one of 435 representatives in Congress sword to uphold the vital US document – the supreme law of the land – that he apparently knows little to nothing about.
I think it bothers me more to have a congressman who is ignorant of the constitution than one who is hostile to it. At least with the latter you know what you have on your hands and voters can be held responsible.
The key word in his revealing quote that no one is talking about is, “honest”. His problem isn’t that he said it; it’s that he didn’t have the prepared dialogue to deal with the reactions.
But Democrats have been hostile to [Continue...]

AT&T Inc. will take a $1 billion non-cash accounting charge in the first quarter because of the health care overhaul and may cut benefits it offers to current and retired workers.
The charge is the largest disclosed so far. Earlier this week, AK Steel Corp., Caterpillar Inc., Deere & Co. and Valero Energy announced similar accounting charges, saying the health care law that President Barack Obama signed Tuesday will raise their expenses. On Friday, 3M Co. said it will also take a charge of $85 million to $90 million.
All five are smaller than AT&T, and their combined charges are less than half of the $1 billion that AT&T is planning. The $1 billion is a third of AT&T’s most recent quarterly earnings. In the fourth quarter of 2009, the company earned $3 billion on revenue of $30.9 billion.
AT&T said Friday that the charge reflects changes to how Medicare subsidies are taxed. Companies say the health care overhaul will require them to start paying taxes next year on a subsidy they receive for retiree drug coverage.

With the stage set for a historic showdown over landmark health legislation in the House on Sunday afternoon, the White House and Democratic Congressional leaders narrowed their hunt for votes to a slim list of lawmakers, including several opponents of abortion who were demanding assurance that no federal money would be used to pay for insurance coverage of the procedure.
Democrats late Saturday night said the 216 votes needed were nearly within their reach, but acknowledged that the margin of victory would likely be razor thin even under their most optimistic scenario. Republicans said they still held out hope of derailing the legislation.
Even on Sunday morning, the vote was clearly too close to call. Rep. John Larson, the chairman of the Democratic caucus, told ABC’s “This Week” program that the votes were in hand. “We have the votes now — as we speak,” he said. But at the same time, Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, the deputy Democratic House whip, told “Fox News Sunday” that the Democrats “don’t have a hard 216 right now.”

I think anyone who ever doubted Obama and his relationship with ACORN was lying to themselves. Here is a video showing Obama admitting “I’ve been always a partner with ACORN.” Now the question is whether or not ACORN is as corrupt as some say they are.
I Have no doubt in my mind had ACORN been a Conservative group in support of Bush not only would the left be screaming for an investigation of Bush, but also ACORN would be shut down with many of their leaders facing investigations.
In my opinion, this all shows the hypocrisy of the left and just what they think of our country. That said, I doubt anything happens to ACORN and Democrats will dismiss Obama’s past with the group as being inconsequential.
My question is really why is Obama and the Democrats not up front about their dealings with ACORN is there something to hide? Tell us the truth and then prove ACORN is innocent of whatever they are accused. Otherwise many will consider Obama and the Democrats dishonest. I think it is important that Americans find out whether or not a group our President associated with is or isn’t’ corrupt. Why not give us the truth [Continue...]
