Can you trust Washington?
Nearly 80 percent of Americans say they can’t and they have little faith that the massive federal bureaucracy can solve the nation’s ills, according to a survey from the Pew Research Center that shows public confidence in the federal government at one of the lowest points in a half-century. [emphasis added]
The poll released Sunday illustrates the ominous situation facing President Barack Obama and the Democratic Party as they struggle to maintain their comfortable congressional majorities in this fall’s elections. Midterm prospects are typically tough for the party in power. Add a toxic environment like this and lots of incumbent Democrats could be out of work.

President Obama and congressional Democrats face an uphill climb to reclaim the support of independent voters who vaulted them to the White House and huge majorities in Congress in 2008, the Washington Times reports.
At the end of the bitter, intensely partisan battle to pass Obama’s health care overhaul plan, independent voters, once captivated by hopeful campaign promises, are feeling burned and appear eager to oust Democrats in November’s midterm elections.

As the final round of the battle over health-care reform begins Sunday, President Obama and the Democrats are in reach of a historic legislative achievement that has eluded presidents dating back a century. The question is at what cost.
By almost any measure, enactment of comprehensive health-care legislation would rank as one of the most significant pieces of social welfare legislation in the country’s history, a goal set as far back as the presidency of Theodore Roosevelt and pursued since by many other presidents. But unlike Social Security or Medicare, Obama’s health-care bill would pass over the Republican Party’s unanimous opposition.
Even Republicans agree on the magnitude of what Obama could pull off, while disagreeing on the substance of the legislation. Sen. Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.) said: “Obviously, he will have achieved as president something nobody else has done. So in that sense, it’s historic.” But he added, “It doesn’t end the health-care debate — it just changes it. And if it does pass, it would be a historic mistake.”
The lengthy and rancorous debate has inflicted considerable damage on the president and his party. It helped spark the grass-roots “tea party” movement and generated angry town hall meetings last summer that led to some opponents painting Obama as a socialist and [Continue...]

Who said the 2008 presidential campaign was over? President Barack Obama upbraided his former Republican rival, Sen. John McCain, on Thursday for resorting to political “talking points” at a health care summit Obama organized in hopes of bridging the divide between the two parties.
After McCain used his time to complain that Obama reneged on a campaign promise to bring “change in Washington,” the president bluntly told the Arizona Republican that “we’re not campaigning any more. The election is over.”
McCain retorted that he’s “reminded of that every day.”

I think anyone who ever doubted Obama and his relationship with ACORN was lying to themselves. Here is a video showing Obama admitting “I’ve been always a partner with ACORN.” Now the question is whether or not ACORN is as corrupt as some say they are.
I Have no doubt in my mind had ACORN been a Conservative group in support of Bush not only would the left be screaming for an investigation of Bush, but also ACORN would be shut down with many of their leaders facing investigations.
In my opinion, this all shows the hypocrisy of the left and just what they think of our country. That said, I doubt anything happens to ACORN and Democrats will dismiss Obama’s past with the group as being inconsequential.
My question is really why is Obama and the Democrats not up front about their dealings with ACORN is there something to hide? Tell us the truth and then prove ACORN is innocent of whatever they are accused. Otherwise many will consider Obama and the Democrats dishonest. I think it is important that Americans find out whether or not a group our President associated with is or isn’t’ corrupt. Why not give us the truth [Continue...]
