FOXNews.com: Conservatism Ranks as Nation’s Top Ideology in 2009, Poll Shows

More Americans identified themselves as conservatives in 2009 than any other ideological group — an uptick largely due to more independents shifting right, according to a Gallup report.

Forty percent of Americans said they were conservative, compared with 36 percent who said they were moderates and 21 percent who professed to be liberals.

Political independents viewing themselves as conservative boosted the overall ranks of conservatives, who now clearly outnumber moderates in Gallup’s annual averages for the first time since 2004.

The report also said the percentage of Americans calling themselves either conservative or liberal has grown over the last decade, while the percentage of moderates has declined.

What’s striking about the report is that since 1992, there have been only two other years — 2003 and 2004 — in which the average percentage of conservatives across the nation outnumbered moderates.

Let Me Introduce Myself

I go by FestiveWarrior because my husband does not want my real name on the Internet. I am a housewife who makes her own laundry soap, bakes her own bread and home-schools. I have seven children ages 31 to eight. I have grandchildren and a garden and I love to sew. Our family is in church every Wednesday evening and twice on Sundays.

I also write. I have a column on Newsvine but think it’s a time waster to have to defend every value I hold dear. There is a liberal majority there that is particularly confrontational toward citizens who do not agree that more government will fix all the ills of the U.S.A.

I’ve been intentionally out of the loop since February of this year. Obama was sworn into office in spite of the massive facts that showed him to be the worst thing this nation could have ever voted in. I was incredulous that people could close their eyes to the facts about him and opt to be led by a man such as this. I decided I had better things to do with my time.

I quit watching the news, reading headlines and had no clue what was going on [Continue...]

Dead Conservatives Preferred Over Dead Cop Killers

When Walter Cronkite, whose voice nudged the perspective of Americans against the Vietnam War (including his deceptive coverage of the Tet Offensive), died a couple of weeks ago, I couldn’t think of anything too warm to say about the former anchorman, so I didn’t say anything at all. The man had a distinguished career and is for better or for worse, a TV news icon. Live and let die.

Yesterday, conservative columnist Robert Novak passed away. Novak wasn’t one of my favorite pundits but I still thought of him as a provocative voice in the political circus. Wondering how my Leftist friends were reacting to the news, I couldn’t help but surf around. Unfortunately, I wasn’t surprised at what I found.

I’ve made it a bit of a project of mine to monitor people’s reactions when a partisan figure dies (or faces some personal tragedy). If I wasn’t already familiar with how the game is played, I would find myself shocked by what leftwing commentators publish and post when a conservative dies.

We’re talking about vicious, hateful hostility. Sadly, this isn’t from a select few – this is from almost all of them.

When someone from the Left suffers or passes away, [Continue...]
